AFFC Monthly Trip on the 'Hooch
  Upper River Float/Wade Trips

Please join fellow club members for a day of fly fishing on the 'Hooch. AFFC's monthly trip from the Spring to the Fall focuses on the upper sections of the Chattahoochee River tailwater from Roswell all the way up to the Buford Dam.

We usually meet at 8am on the Saturday following each monthly meeting.

Times and locations may vary each month dependant on generation schedules at Buford Dam and fishing reports immediately prior to the trip. There are both wading and floating opportunities available. Most people prefer to float the river using either float tubes or Pontoon Craft although wade trips can also occur concurrently if desired.

An email will be sent out on either Thursday or Friday before the trip via Yahoo! Groups giving the trip location and meeting place. Once there, just look for the folks in the AFFC caps.

In the event of poor weather, an email will be send before 6PM Friday canceling the trip and the trip will be rescheduled later in the month, weather permitting.

For Floating:

Bring a Float Tube, Kayak or Pontoon Boat with Fins if desired. A life vest must be carried by every floating device on the river including Float Tubes. From Buford Dam to the GA 20 bridge, life vests must be worn by all persons using the river. Dress warm since the water can be below 50 even when the air temperature approaches 100! Bring a rain jacket since storms can creep up unexpected and sections of the river can leave you hours from any cover. Don't forget to bring a lunch, something to drink, polarized sunglasses, and some high SPF suncreen for skin protection.

For Wading:

Bring a wading staff to help prevent spills. Don't forget to pack a lunch, something to drink, a rain jacket, polarized sunglasses, some suncreen for skin protection, and a camera to take a picture of that "trophy" fish. Glass bottles are not permitted on the River. When fishing from Buford Dam to the GA Highway 20 bridge, life jackets must be worn by all persons on the river whether floating or wading.
