AFFC Monthly Trip on the 'Hooch
  Delayed Harvest Wade/Float Trip

Please join fellow club members for a day of fly fishing on the 'Hooch. AFFC's monthly trip during the Fall through Spring months is either a wade or float trip in the Delayed Harvest section of the Chattahoochee River.

The Delayed Harvest Section (catch & release - single hook only) is open from Nov. 1st through May 14th stretching from Sope Creek (off Columns Drive) downstream to the US Hwy. 41 Bridge (Cobb Parkway).

We meet at 9 am on the Saturday following each monthly meeting at the Paces Mill National Park Unit off US 41 (south of I-285). The park is very large with plenty parking, restrooms, picnic tables and extensive wading areas. For those members that want to partner-up and fish another section of the DH, or float, this location provides an excellent starting point to meet. Just look for the guys in the AFFC caps. Bring a wading staff, or a broom handle with a string attached, to help prevent spills. There is a $2.00 daily NRA parking fee good at any area you decide to fish -- unless you already have a season NRA parking pass.

Don't forget to bring a lunch and something to drink. Alcoholic beverages and glass bottles are not permitted on park property.

Meeting Time:                  9:00 AM

Meeting Location:            Paces Mill National Park Unit off US 41

Paces Mill Wade Area:    The accessible wading area is from the Hwy. 41 Bridge                                             upstream to and beyond the I-75 Bridge. There's plenty of water
to fish without feeling overcrowded and there are a lot of fish
                                            throughout the entire area.
Exercise good fishing etiquette when
                                            approaching other anglers.

Flies:                                  Bring some brightly colored "trout candy" flies (eggs, San Juan                                            Worms, streamers, etc.) in addition to the standard fare of
nymphs (BH Princes, Lightning Bugs, etc.), midges and dries
(Adams, Caddis, etc.).  Also, both black and olive Woolly
                                           Buggers work well at times.
