Destination: Atlanta, Roswell & Buford areas, Chattahoochee River,                      Monthly -- On Saturday following the club meeting

Each month, on the Saturday after each monthly meeting, AFFC members and prospective new members get together to fish the Chattahoochee River. From November 1 - May 14, the club trips concentrate on the Chattahoochee Delayed Harvest section of the river -- or at least until the caddis start appearing in the upper river sections. Midges, Blue Winged Olives, and Black Stoneflies are the predominant hatches during the Winter months.

As the water warms in late March & beginning of April, trips are also conducted on the upper river sections below Buford Dam. Many of these trips are float trips however wading opportunities do exist. If you prefer to wade, talk with members at the AFFC monthly meeting to see if there are members planning to wade that coming weekend.. April brings out the Black Caddis hatch on the river which usually lasts until early June in the upper sections. Look for Sulphurs coming off in the Delayed Harvest section in May. In mid-June, there is usually a Japanese beetle hatch along with the first appearance of other terrestrials such as ants. Summertime is generally a potpourri of various "stuff" with attractor patterns often working well in addition to beadhead softhackles, midges (nymphs & dries) and
green meanies (in deeper areas). As the water begins to cool in the Fall, it's time to switch over to stripping Woolly Buggers and other baifish imitations again along with stoneflies, midges, and looking out for Blue Winged Olive (BWO) hatches.
